  1. Our daughters could be twins! My baby girl Leah, was born with HPE, and I would love to offer my support and prayers on behalf of your precious baby Pearl. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. My daughter was born with a severve seizure disorder as a result of her HPE. Leah’s blog is found at http://www.leahgracejarmer.blogspot.com/

Seeing Pearl’s face is so familiar, and brought a huge smile to mine! May you be blessed through your time with her. She has such a special purpose, and is such a special little girl!

  2. Your little Pearl was meant to be with your family. She is a special angel meant to bring you added Love and Joy. She choose you to be her parents. She wanted life. She is fighting for it. She will be all that she can be, all that God meant for her to be. May God bless and strengthen you all throughout this journey. Thank you for sharing your story.

  3. Hi there,I just want to start of by saying that we serve a most loving compassionate and mighty God……I am a mother of 4 Dylan is 18 Faye is 12 Joseph is 8 and Lydia-Joy is 16 mths old.Lydia was born with Hydrocephalus and Alobar Holoprosencaphly, like yourselves we were offered a termination…my response..who am I to take away what God has given us.We were told all kinds of horror stories, but God had different plans for Lydia, he has blessed us with a beautiful daughter we tell her daily how clever she is we tell her daily she is going to walk in the NAME of JESUS,she is going to talk in the NAME of JESUS and her brain is going to be restored in the NAME of JESUS.Dont get me wrong its been a rollercoaster ride for us where the enemy has tried to get in and try and take our focus of God,but everytime fear and worry has set in we very qucikly stamp him out and reach out to JESUS Lydia has had 8 ops up to now all shunt related. But as believers of an amazing God we have learned to lean on him for strength wisdom and understanding. We thank God for each day we have with Lydia, she has been born into a world where she receives so much love not just from us but from lots of people,We are going to pray for Pearl-Joy xx
God Bless you Ruth Rankin xx

  4. I read your story on Daily Mail and it touched my heart. The love you have for Pearl and the life God has blessed her with made me think of my walk with the Lord. I see that each day is miracle for Pearl and not guaranteed just like it isn’t guaranteed for me. She lives despite the odds against her, waking each day to be loved by her family which is enough. I was convicted because I am alive in the presence of my loving heavenly Father and that should be enough for me just like it is for Pearl. Praise God for the ministry of her life! She shows me that being loved and living despite the odds to fight the good fight is enough. That each day is precious because it is a gift to be living in the presence of our loving God. I don’t need anything more than that, it is enough. All that God gives me and Pearl will always be enough! Praise the Lord and God continue to bless Pearl and her family! Thank you.

  6. Saw your story in USAToday and almost dropped the paper. Your daughter and my son could be twins. He had the exact same condition and your experience with the doctors could have been written by my wife and I. My wife and I live in Knoxville, so if you ever need to talk to someone who has gone through this experience just drop us a line.

  7. My daughter, now 24 years old, was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome. When I saw the picture of Pearl, I thought you had taken one of my pictures, LOL. You can read a bit about my daughter on our website, http://www.adoptn.org She is under the name Janice…actually her real name is Jessica. The website has not been updated for ages, and Jessica is now in college, majoring in counseling and music. She is taking 9 months off, though, to go to the Colorado Center for the Blind. She is totally blind, born with no eyes. She will learn more self help skills, but also rock climbing, music Braille (different from reading Braille), and maybe get some work study done at a Christain radio station. I’d like to send you a slide show I made of her, and also one that has her singing. It would be an attachment, so if you would like to see them, let me know what your email address is.

  8. My daughter has HPE also and has been a true blessing. My daughter willl be 7 years old in December and a little miracle. I have always looked at Psalm139 and continue to look at that verse because these sweet kiddos are def. here to Glorify God. My daughter has touched more ppl than I ever could in my 28 years.

  9. On January 13, 1975, God blessed me with a beautiful baby girl named Mandae. In the span of no more than five brief minutes she taught me everything about being a mother —unconditional love, joy, worry, and the ability to let go say Good bye and thank God for the blessing of having seen her beautiful eyes, her angelic smile and feeling her hold my finger. Mandae only lived an hour. She was born with a respiratory condition which she couldnot overcome. God called her home and she never suffered.
God blessed me with two more children who are in their 30’s and I have 3 sons adopted when I married their dad. All are grown ups now. Four grandchildren are blessings to us as we thank God each day. We pray for you Eric and Ruth as you parent your son and your daughters. Each day your dedication to Pearl and her life will be lessons in love to her siblings. You are truly witnesses for your Father in heaven. And as far as the zHuffington Post goes….we pray daily for those who would persecute us and ask God to make us instruments of His love. Perhaps one person at that site will find God as they’re Saviour because of your faith and Pearl.

  10. I heard about your sweet family through my dear friend Carmen Fowler and her blog on http://www.layman.org
Your writing is so touching and you have a beautiful way of bringing us all back to what matters. I pray for Pearl and also that lives are impacted for eternity by your personal experience and transparency. Blessings to you all.

  11. Our Eva was Alobar HPE, little pearl could be her baby twin…you have seen the same comment on here so many times! Our Eva passed away last June, she was 3 1/2, I would love for to meet all you HPE parents…as you are all extended family! Families for HoPE will be holding another conference in 2014…I hope to see you all there!!

  12. Bless little Pearl and your sweet family. I am so touched by your love and dedication to her welfare while still in the womb and am so sad that you had to experience the unkind words said by the one doctor. Every life is precious and deserves to be loved and cared for. Pearly is one lucky little girl and I will be praying for your family as God leads.

  13. I wanted to thank you for allowing me to see your beautiful family. The picture that I most enjoyed was the cupcake with 11 candles. How sweet. How precious.

    God’s richest upon you,

    Courtney Howard’s dad

  14. We were just in the doctors yesterday and they found a problem. They sent us to a specialist in Omaha and we were told our little Angel Demiana has this same condition. We are Christians and decided yesterday that only God will say when she will die if she will die. Reading your story and words has given us hope for our little Angel. Blessings to you.
